Travellers Cheques

Hi,

I am off on sunday - Yippee!

but my travel agent has said that they do not like to change travellers cheques in Cyprus anymore, i am not sure if they are just trying to get me to take one of those currency cards.

Has anyone used travelers Cheques over ther this year?

are they happy to exchange them as usual?

thanks

|||

We haven%26#39;t used them this year in Cyprus but the banks have always changed them in the past. We are going on Saturday to Limassol and have a mixture some travellers cheques, some currency and a card for the ATM. I do think people are using them less and less but hopefully we will be OK. When we were there in July we just took Euros and got money out from the ATM.

|||

In Pernera just down the road from Protaras we took Euro Travellers cheques and could change them in our hotel (Livas) for €2 fee per €100 cheque, the bank if you could find it open changes them (might have been shut due to being Cypriot holidays??) also Platon car hire (travel and tours) also changed them as did several other places....

Advice/help needed for first time to Paphos

We are 2 familes of 9 people with kids from 5yrs to 16yrs wanting to go to Paphos for the first time. We want to do self catering villa with pool away from the hustle %26amp; bustle but also within easy reach of shops/restaurants. Please can anyone suggest villas %26amp; websites? Many thanks.

|||

Try Tasmaria on tomb of the Kings Rd or King Jason or Damian Apts

Kev

|||

Sorry Piper - they are all hotel/apartments not villas.

|||

I would recommend the Aliathon Holiday Village, away from the general hustle and bustle of the centre but convienient for shops, bars, restaurants, beach, water park etc

The complex is made of villa type accomodation and has great reviews.

|||

Sorry I only picked up self catering, if your after villas then try Luminari opposite Alexander the great

Kev

|||

Hi,

Just type %26#39;holiday rentals Paphos%26#39; into the search engine of your choice and all the big name holiday rental sites will come up on the 1st page. Many of the villas will have reviews from previous guests to help you make your choice.

There are hundreds if not thousands of self-catering villas with pools in the Paphos area so you%26#39;ll be spoilt for choice.

You might also like to consider trying a property developer website. There%26#39;s plenty of unsold villas in the area and developers rent these out to get some money coming in. Again, just type in %26#39;property developers Paphos Cyprus%26#39; into the search engine of your choice and some of the big name developers on the west coast of Cyprus are there.

Good luck and happy holidays.

If you want to be in Paphos there arent many villa rentals but try Paphoslettings they have a couple of villas on the Limnaria complex

Many thanks to everyone for your replies. I%26#39;ll look into Lumniria %26amp; also do searches as suggested.

Connecting rooms with good view at Atlantica Aeneas Resort

I am staying at the Atlantica Aeneas Resort middle of October and wondered if there are any connecting rooms with good pool/sea views which I could request before arriving. Also, any good fun boat trips (not rowdy) we are taking my Dad who is 82 but likes a good laugh and our 10 year old daughter.

Many thanks.

Atlantica Sungarden Hotel -Internetaccess/video games

We are travelling to the Atlantica Sungarden Hotel in October with our 9 year old.

Does the hotel have internet or video games facilities.

thanks

Paralimimi/Protaras Help Please.

Hi, the first week of my holiday i am staying at the windmills appts, could you tell me where the closest supermarket is please?

Cheap is good.

TIA

|||

I%26#39;m sure the windmills had it%26#39;s own supermarket(not been for a few years).Failing that there is an E%26amp;S supermarket just down the hill.When you come out of the apartments and facing the main road,turn right and take a right again where you will be heading towards the Anais Bay hotel and a nice little beach just round the corner.The supermarket is about 50 yards away from the main road.In fact,depending on what side of the complex you are you might be facing it as some of the rooms back onto the road down to the beach.

|||

Hiya,

There are lots of little supermarkets in Pernera but noe that i would call Cheap - not if you want food to cook with.

You can jump on the bus or grab a cheap Taxi to Orphanides supermarket just on the way into Paralimni

or if you have a car you can go down to Kokkinos in Paralimni which is a bit cheaper. these are both the local Supermarket Equivalent to Tesco so much cheaper,

sorry - can%26#39;t remember if the bus passes Kokkinos but def stops right outside Orphanides

Happy Shopping!

Yes Windmills does have its own little supermarket, then just over the road and up a bit is a big bakery/shop type place, or as mentioned if you come to the top end of windmills and turn right you will find L%26amp;G Supermarket (one of the bigger ones in the area), but if you wander around you will find them all over, some sell bits of fresh fruit and veg, some of things like bacon and cold meats, some have bread and pies (L%26amp;G does quite well for pies both sweet and savoury).... But if you need big lumps of meat, large boxes of cereal you need to go and look up the Paralimni road to Orphandies....

|||

oh and should mention that if you go downhill from the windmills towards the beach (so you are passing Elamaris, then Seagull, Livas etc on your left you come to a new bakery on the left which also has a large stock grocerys)

Steve

|||

I couldn%26#39;t remember the name of that supermarket L%26amp;G.I knew it was 2 letters and just guessed as there is an E%26amp;S in Paphos.I always remember one of the girls working there was quite possibly the unhappiest looking person I%26#39;ve ever seen.

Hi,

Where are you staying in Paphos. If it is near the triangle the Crocodile pub is excellent. Good atmosphere, not rowdy, all ages. There are 4 screens, inside and out. I%26#39;m really jealous, we love Paphos and can%26#39;t wait to go back. Our first visit 7 years ago was also for our honeymoon and we have gone back every year but one since. Have a fab time.

|||

thanks for your quick response...we are staying at the regina gardens on the kings of tombs area ....i have been to paphos several times but my husband hasnt so i cant wait to show him around. mind you its been a few years since i last went and the reviews are a little off putting to say the least. memory lane i think should be forgotten and i must look at it as a new destination lol. i cant wait thou..... bring me sunshine......can you recommend good eating places? and anything i must do? looking at goerges fun bus or is that really just for kids?

|||

Unfortunately the Crocodile is about the same distance from the harbour as you are, but on the other side,but I am sure there will be loads of other pubs in your area just as good. Don%26#39;t be disheartered about the other reviews Paphos is still great. We were there in May and it was certainly quieter and although reviews were saying it is very expensive we found it OK. Yes more expensive that it used to be but we were expecting it to be horrendous. Never been on Georges bus but reviews say it is good. With regard to restaurants, we usually eat at our end so not really so close to you but if you do venture to Poseidon Avenue area you have got to try Gabors French restaurant. If you like boats,there are some good trips from the harbour.Anyway hope your wedding day goes well and congratulations in advance.

|||

many thanks.....we will definately venture the other side of the harbour...i have already pencilled in gabors as reviews are sayin its a must. thanks again.

so i still need a decent pub showing spurs v man u for sat that is quite near as our flight doesnt get in till 1.45pm.... footie is on at 5pm our time? any sugestions?

|||

come on you spurs, i hate manutd

|||

me too.....but we are the underdog but saying that man u did lose to burnley!!! could be sweet to watch or good excuse for a couple more beers....

|||

%26quot; If it is near the triangle the Crocodile pub is excellent.%26quot;

I keep hearing The Triangle mentioned - where is it...?

|||

i`m not sure myself.......can anyone help? i go late tonite to catch my flight tomoz i am sooooooooo excited!

|||

The triange is at the opposite end of the harbour the Tomb of the Kings road. It is opposite the Amathus Beach hotel and is named the triangle because of the shape of the road and there are various bars and restaurants around it.

|||

There are lots of good bars at that end of Paphos so you will have plenty of choice for the footie.My favourite is also on the other side of the harbour near the triangle.Its a bar called Fiesta at the front of Avanti Village.Bus 15 stops outside but you will need somewhere nearer the day you arrive.

My family and I spent 2 fantastic weeks in Paphos in August and have no criticisms.

There is a family run restaurant near you called San Marino-give it a try its lovely.

Congratulations and have a great honeymoon
